Symptoms

Symptoms vary by configuration and environment.

Causes
Suggested solutions or troubleshooting steps
  1. Confirm clients are pointed to the correct server address.
Verify the configured IP address or hostname matches the device’s current address. If DHCP is used, the address can change after reboot.
  2. Verify reachability and required ports.
Confirm network reachability and ensure required ports are allowed through any firewalls or security devices.
Fix
  1. Close WinDiscovery completely and reopen it, then run discovery again.
  2. Wait for 100% completion before selecting devices.
  3. Confirm you are the only person configuring the device (avoid simultaneous WinDiscovery/Telnet/SSH sessions).
  4. Check for heavy network traffic or congestion, UDP delivery is not guaranteed.
  5. If it continues, use SSH/Telnet (where supported) or move to a quieter LAN for configuration.
