Compare the client and time source
Incorrect PTP flags or domain settings can prevent synchronization. Record the settings at both ends and compare them with the requirements for the specific Windows PTP client.
Settings to review
- Select a profile compatible with the client. For a GMR6000, compare against the datasheet profile list.
- Compare the delay mechanism required by the selected profile, including E2E or P2P where applicable.
- Check one-step/two-step operation against the profile and client requirements. Do not assume every profile permits both modes.
- Check the PTP domain configured on the client and time source.
- Compare PTP flags with the requirements of the Windows PTP client in use.
- Check the expected timescale and the time source’s PTP Time Properties settings.
The GMR6000 datasheet identifies profile support, but does not prescribe Windows domain numbers or required flag values. Use the documentation for the specific Windows version and PTP client for those values.
