Displayed time is off by whole hours

Symptoms

The displayed time differs from the expected time by a consistent number of whole hours.

Possible causes

• The device displays UTC when local time is expected, or the reverse.
• The time zone or daylight saving time (DST) setting is incorrect.
• The PC used to view the time applies a different local-time conversion.

Troubleshooting steps

1. Confirm whether the device should output or display UTC or local time.
2. In WinDiscovery or the device interface, check the selected time zone, DST settings, and any configured offset.
3. If viewing time on a PC, check that PC’s time zone and DST settings as well. NTP servers typically serve UTC; clients handle local-time conversion.
4. Change only the incorrect setting, then compare the displayed time with the expected reference again.
